The manufacturing of a metallic material composite can also involve the process of back-casting.
A necessary condition is that the metals have a significantly differing melting point.
A machined part of one material is partially or fully covered with the other melted material. After solidification, a perfect joint is formed between the two materials. In contrast to mechanical processes, soldering or welding technologies, the joining zone of such back-cast component offers the highest mechanical strength and the highest heat transfer rates.
