As well as the possibility of using the liquid phase sintering technology for the production of composite materials, it is also possible to employ the infiltration technology.
Here the base material powder is pressed into the desired shape. Afterwards the compacted powder and bars of the infiltration metal are heated up together. When the infiltration metal becomes molten, it is absorbed into the sponge like structure of the pressed parts. The resulting infiltrated material combines properties of both metals.
